People with fibromyalgia often spend years trying to get a diagnosis. Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain along with fatigue, problems with sleep, memory and brain fog, People diagnosed with fibromyalgia also often suffer from anxiety, depression, irritable bowel syndrome, migraine and tension headaches, painful bladder disorder and TMJ (jaw pain).
There is no definitive test for fibromyalgia. it is considered a diagnosis of exclusion, meaning other causes of the symptoms need to be ruled out before a diagnosis is made. According to the Mayo Clinic, “Fibromyalgia can’t be easily confirmed or ruled out through a simple laboratory test. Your doctor can’t detect it in your blood or see it on an X-ray. ..Because there is no test for fibromyalgia, your doctor must rely solely on your group of symptoms to make a diagnosis”.
Conventional medicine, however, often ignores common causes of symptoms that mimic fibromyalgia. Nutritional deficiencies, toxic exposures, chronic stress or trauma can all cause similar symptoms.
I’ve included a list below of symptoms of frequently occurring nutritional deficiencies as well as symptoms of common toxic exposures, chronic stress and trauma.
