I am on verge on medicine needs for high blood pressure and wanted my own machine to keep an eye on daily fluctuations. Consumer Report says this is a #1 machine and it is very, very convenient and works so well. You’ll be happy with this purchase.

Likes it overall. Wish it was a little smaller and more portable – looking at the picture, didn’t expect it to be of this size. But gives pretty accurate readings – same as what my doctor reads manually. Very easy-to-use – no help needed from others. Stores a lot of old readings and calculates averages. Reads heartbeat rate also. Can be used with batteries or ac adaptor – but if no battery put in, the date/time will not be correct.

I like the way this product works, with one exception: it purports to record the history of your blood pressure readings (with date/time) but apparently this feature only works if you use the battery option (4x AA). If you use it with the AC adapter as I do, the history feature is useless because the unit requires the AAs to keep the date. That seems crazy. They should have a button battery as is used in PCs to hold the date/time.

Being a nurse, i’ve used all sorts of makes and models to monitor blood pressure, including the self application type. Most are flawed by poor unstable connectors, tubes too short to reach between patient and device, clumsy to wrap, the air supply knob is either too tight or too loose, or electrical cords too short to be practical, etc. I was hesitant, skeptical and reluctant to pay this much. (I don’t mind so much if it just works!) Now that the OMRON DLX Automatic Comfort Cuff has been in use for almost a month, it has proven it’s worth! All the cords/connections are ample and stable. The reading is accurate and easy to obtain, even one-handed. It stays put when placed on the upper arm above the elbow, is comfortable and easy to complete the velcro closure. The memory allows comparison over a significant period of time and is a handy feature. I haven’t tried to use it on battery power, but it gets my thumbs up!

Initially I was a little skeptical about buying an automatic or a manual BP machine. The automatic is usually associated with errors and a manual requires a second person measuring your BP. Finally opting for a aumatic one, dilema shifted to whether to buy the latest model or a cheaper one. I finally decided to buy this one to balance all out. The higher models have those special cuffs, memory, etc features which I didn’t think were very usefull for me. Having an average arm, this cuff fits me well and comfortable. I tested it with different people and haven’t seen erronious reading. Just apply the cuff as suggested in the manuals and let the monitor do its work. The readings have been consistant and mostly correct. I would recommend to all who donot prefer the manual monitor and don’t want to spend extra money on ‘just extra’ features. My two thumbs up for this product.

This monitor was easy to set up and use. It seems to be very consistant and accurate. BUT…it squeezes my arm quite a bit harder than any hand-pump wielding nurse or physician I ever met! It is rather uncomfortable. Has anyone else had this experience? Any comments? I’ve tried adjusting the cuff looser and tighter – doesn’t seem to make a difference. The ’squeeze’ is still uncomfortable. My arm tingles lightly for about 20 minutes after a test.

The Omron blood pressure monitor is a great asset in monitoring my own blood pressure whenever I choose to in the privacy of my own home. It is fast, convenient and works well. The only thing that is not good about it is that the connection comes out at times and you have to put it back before you take your blood pressure. I am very satisfied and would recommend this product.

This is a nice compact unit that as far as i am concerned gives a fairly accurate reading. Follow the simple directions and make sure you put the cuff on with the “arrow” facing down your arm and facing up and viola!, blood pressure taken. The unit stores readings, highs and lows, and comes in handy when doing comparisons based on daily or bi-daily exercise routines or for monitoring health issues. I think the only draw back of the unit would be the size of the cuff, it comes with a standard arm size cuff. I would have liked to seen it just a hair or two bigger as my arm runs 19.25 inches around on the right and my left is 18.75 inches. Other than ordering a larger cuff though i have no complaints. I hope this helps somewhat on your purchasing desicion, there are many out there and at a higher price and cheaper ones to, this one just seems to fit the bill for me. Thanks for your time.

Omron Body Fat Monitor and Scale Review
I originally ordered a Tanita scale and it stopped working within two weeks. (Amazon, of course, took it back with no problems.) I was so glad when the Omron scale arrived. It costs less than the Tanita but the quality is much higher. The numbers on it are very large and easy to read. Also, it is much easier to place your feet properly than on the Tanita. I can’t wait to try all the features. By the way, I weighed myself over and over and my weight only varied .2 lbs. as promised. Great deal for the money!!!

I compared this body fat monitor to similar ones from Tanita. You are definately getting more for your money here. It stores up to 4 users where the Tanita models only store 2 and compares function for function elsewhere at a lower price point. Not to mention that this scale just feels like better quality when you pick it up. I bought one with one of the Omron Pedometers to take advantage of the instant rebate on Amazon. (I haven’t seen an event on Tanita on Amazon for a while.) The pedometer was the #1 rated in CR. They are both top notch products.

If you are willing to spend a few minutes with the manual, and are interested in healthy weight loss, then this is a great product. This scale will measure body fat and skeletal muscle. This is important because unhealthy weight loss can be accomplished at the expence of muscle and often leads to quick regain of the weight with more fat than you originally started with. The scale does not give 100% accurate measure of body fat or skeletal muscle BUT the readings are consistant if you do them at the start of each day. This means you can see if you are loosing fat (yeah!)or muscle (boo!) over time. Don’t trust any one measurement as it will vary based on fluid intake and other factors. It is better to get an average over several days to see your present level. I am tracking my progress carefully and though I am loosing weight slower, I am actually loosing fat at the same time I am gaining muscle. If I had a regular scale I might assume I wasn’t loosing much weight at all and restricted my calories too much or over exercised. Oh yeah, the scale works great also.

We purchased this scale upon the recommendation of a nurse educator, who heard about it at a conference. We tested it 40 times with the same person and found the results were always very consistent if we followed the manufacturers instructions. We then used it to screen over 150 people at a community education event with great success and confident results. The only negative thing for us was that the reference ranges of the scale for body fat, etc. only apply to those up to the age of 79, (b/c the normal physiology of older persons changes after 80) and we had a couple of very small and light framed individuals the scale wouldn’t “read” – other than their weight. The manufacturer clearly explained all of this in the manual, so it wasn’t a problem, per se, but in a public setting, understandably, some 80+ year olds and a few underweight folks felt left out. It would be nice if Omron came up with a similar product applicable those 80+ too, esp since those in the 85+ category are the fastest growing segment of the population!

MyoTape Body Tape Measure Review
As a tape measure, it does what it says it does. You press a button and the tape tightens around your body part. You won’t have to worry about, “Did I hold the tape tigher last time?” as the tension is always the same for consistent measurements every time. The tape starts measurement at 2″ since the tape casing holds the tape and that part measures around 2 inches. I think this tape is accurate plus-or-minus half-an-inch but it sure beats a regular tape measure since at least the button ensures that each time the tape wraps around you at the same tension level.

This measuring tape is very easy to use by yourself. If you are wanting to measure your arms, just extend the tape out in a big loop, then slide the plastic nub at the end of the tape into it’s notch. Stick your arm through the loop, and press the button in the center. It’s that easy. If you do it like I do it, you can measure without flexing first..get your measurement, and then flex, and get the new measurement. You dont have to redo the tape, it just pulls out a little more for ya. I only have 2 gripes about this. The first one is minor. I wish the plastic nub at the end of the tape had a rubber lining. Because the notch is plastic also. And plastic against plastic tends to slide. So instead of firmly being in place in the notch, it can slide out sometimes. So I’ve learned to just hold the nub firmly while pressing the center button to tighten the tape. The second gripe would have to be the tape itself. It’s not bad, but it could be a better quality. Mine had a fold in it. I’m guessing the measurer had been in the package for a bit. So I had to rub the fold out. Not that big of a deal, but it just irked me some.

I have trouble knowing how tight to pull the tape measure when I measure myself. I was hoping that this device would eliminate that problem. It does help to some extent, but there can still be a discrepancy of around 1/2″. It does make it much easier than trying to look in the mirror and see the measurement when measuring alone. Shipping was ridiculous for one tape, but if you buy multiples there is only one shipping charge.

I really like this MyoTape Body Tape Measure. It’s easier to take those difficult measurments. Just hook the end of the tape measure into the slot and push a button to tighten the tape. No longer do you need two free hands (or another person) to take a good measurement. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5, is that I haven’t had the tape measure too long and it seems like it might break easily. I’m trying to keep it out of the hands of my young kids. Maybe I’ll revise this after a few months of use to see if the product has held up.

The design of this tape is really brilliant. Anyone who is trying to lose weight should be tracking not only the pounds they are losing, but also the inches. Unfortunately, measuring yourself can be really awkward and it is hard to get accurate results, but asking someone else to do it can be really embarassing. This little measuring tape makes it much easier. You pull the tape out a little longer than you need it (the tape automatically locks in place), hook the little peg in the groove and then hold it against your body and push the button. The button causes the tape to retract until it is snug. Once you release the button the tape locks into place again. All you have to do at that point is slip the peg out of the groove and then look the markings. When you are done push the button again and the tape wraps up inside the handle. It is a simple design that really works. Anyone who is on a diet absolutely must get this tape. They will not regret it!

Finger Pulse Oximeter Octive Tech 300C Review
I’m a RRT(respiratory therapist) and I purchased this pulse ox several months ago. I use it daily and have found it to be very accurate. It is lightweight, easy to read in dark or bright rooms, and works well on pts with poor circulation. The only complaints I have is that it is slower and more sensitive to motion than $400 handheld models. I have also noticed the lettering for SPO2 an HR has already started to wear off. I would recommend this product to RTs, PTs, and RNs who want an affordable pulse ox.

My mom was in the hospital for 40 days about 4 weeks ago. Her oxygen level and pulse was something that has to be watched closely. When she got home I was worried about her oxygen and pulse so I went onto Amazon and found this oximeter. The next day I was talking to a family member who is a physical therapist for a home health nursing facility. I have been having some major health problems. One Saturday I was forced to call for a Home Health Nurse (versus the paramedics). I recently had pneumonia and was in a hospital 800 miles from home. The Doctors wouldn’t discharge me until my %Oxygen level in my blood was over 90. I was registering at 88%-90%. I spent six days in the hospital over New Years week. I told the Doctor that possibly my levels were normal near 90%. Also, I needed to have a meter to experiment on how I could get my levels up well over 90% so I could go home. The hospital staff wouldn’t cooperate with me in experimenting, so I “borrowed” a meter from outside the Hospital and I figured-out how to get my % elevated to 96, although it was temporary. Upon my release from the hospital, I decided to keep a log of my normal % Oxygen level. I purchased the 300C and it’s GREAT. My levels do hang-out in the low 90s. When I start walking again, I’ll take the meter with me (it also registers heart-rate).
